2018 Highlights
December 25, 20182018 Highlights, Updates & Out of Office Notice <3
I don’t know why I’m being a masochist to myself because I forced myself to pick 1-2 per stylist to highlight the 2018 season. I call it #ICantChooseism because there are so many beautiful photos we received from our clients and it is too hard for me to narrow it down, so instead I’m like OK! Pick One liz, Pick One! It was so hard that I’ve decided to go with the Doggie Photos. I’ve been LOVING seeing clients incorporate their beloved family members in their wedding and this helped me select the highlights!
:P Firstly, we are tremendously grateful here at Skyla Arts to all of our most wonderful clients that chose us to be a part of their special day! I had shared this on our instagram but will share here as well! By gifting us the opportunity to service you, in turn, we are empowered to do what we do best: Help you reach your goals for your event, uplift you to enable you to rise to the (special!) occasion, then in turn, allow you to shine and spread your light to the world and continue that positivity. This is what I mean when I chose the Skyla Arts Ethos “Changing the world one face at a time.” It’s not simply a byline! We chose to be in the service industry and when we can lift you, we can lift ourselves – such is the nature of being in the Creative/Artist community. Thank you for choosing us, supporting a woman-run/woman-focused small business, and allowing us to do our best work! We cannot wait to work with our future clients in the new year!
Out-of-Office January 2019: I will be heading out to Asia to visit my family for the month of January and will be back in office in February. During this time, I will still be available via email but please anticipate delays in me returning your inquiries due to the time difference and family activities! Should you need to schedule your consultation appointment with Angela or Camille in January, still reach out and I can set it up for you! Because of my absence in January which is typically when we meet many of our clients for the consultation, we’ve extended our weekend consultation appointments to February, so please still use our inquiry form and reach out!
A bit of Bitter-Sweetness, Kelsey & Michael’s wedding at Olympia Valley Estate this spring was published on GreyLikes (Yay!) but it’s also the last event with Treja as the lead makeup & hair! In a nutshell, Treja has decided to primarily focus on her Microblading Practice in Petaluma! In a way K&M’s event was the perfect one to conclude this chapter as Olympia Valley Estate is also in Treja’s home town Petaluma! Not to worry – while Treja is not taking any weddings as lead at Skyla Arts, she will still be there at our Marin/Sonoma weddings beautifying your bridal party. Outside of that, you can find Treja at her practice, or maybe run into her on-set at a commercial shoot or movie set. She is already missed by our vendor collaborators but alas, we are really excited to see Treja settle into being the Brow Queen or premiere service provider of beautiful brows in Petaluma! I’ve been working with Treja for a few years now and was really proud to have her on our team as a lead stylists from 2014-2018 during which we created so much beauty together! <3
It’s been a big year for our lead stylist Angela! While some of these events happened in 2017, all of the publications came out this year! Angela’s Skyla Arts brides of 2017 was featured in print in The Knot California Fall/Winter Issue of 2018 as well as Modern Luxury Weddings, and Angela also did her first ever magazine cover, a bridal editorial for the Fall cover for Today’s Bride SF! I’m super proud of what we’ve been able to achieve together :) You can view 2 events that are featured on Carats & Cake here: Megan & Bill and Danielle & Brandon (also in print on Modern Luxury Weddings!) On top of doing an amazing job at Team Skyla Arts, Angela has also been selected to be the Kérastase Ambassador and certified L’Oreal Educator – watching Angela grow as an artist over the years has been a great joy and I can’t wait to see what the future brings!
Camille continues her beautiful and flawless work here at Skyla Arts! Our couple Natalie & Louise that Camille did makeup for last Fall was featured on Martha Stewart’s earlier this year! Natalie had hired Camille for The Full Day experience, so it was a great joy to see all the photos and details come together! 2018 was a busy year for Camille; Camille and her FamBam relocated to their ideal street in San Jose where the kiddos are having a time of their life playing with the kids on the neighborhood block, busy connecting and building a community. I just loved that – in this day and age in 2018, with the growing influence of technology, to see kids being kids and playing outdoors with their friends up and down the block, it puts a smile on my face! Outside of Skyla Arts, you can catch Camille doing gorgeous and glamorous looks for her ad clients like Charlotte Russe!
Jerilyn has been busy at her salon outside of Skyla Arts, but has been bringing the bridal beauty here for our lovely brides this year! I am never surprised to see the high level of work from my lead stylists, but it’s just such a joy, going through the film to see our couple T&J featured here! T had hired Jerilyn for The Full Day package and swapped into a loose & romantic braided up-do so T can dance the night away with a lip color change for the evening! It was oh so perfect for the couple!! In other news, Jerilyn’s son got accepted into an Ivy League college via Early Decision! I’m just so excited and proud of Jerilyn; she continues to inspire me as a mom, a wife and a woman. :) Because of family commitments (hello College in the Summer!), Jerilyn will have limited availabilities in 2019, but is looking forward to working with brides for the 2020 calendar year!!
